Lots to report in the past couple weeks. Avery learned to clap at herself, others and especially at the end of songs. She also learned how to roll from her back to her side to her stomach and then scrunch herself up on her knees and sit up (this all happens in lightening speed). She sits herself up in the crib and then cries b/c she doesn't know what to do from there. So Scott and I have been spending an enormous amount of time putting her back down. She's also learning to say Dada. She says a lot of variations of Dada, Adad, Agad, Dad, Gad, Gada, Dadada, etc, but they are all very fun sounds to hear from her pretty voice.
Look at me clapping for myself!
Here's a pic Gramps took in Cincinnati - the Berge cousins and Avery together (amazing that baby Lila and Avery are less than 7 months apart and will be the same grade!).
Avery and I went into the city and bought her a bunch of new things for the fall and winter. Instead of going to sleep we had a little fashion show for Daddy when he got home. Here's Avery's new boots for the winter (she's of course clapping for them and for the picture).
This is a hat Grandma bought last year for Avery but we saved it for this upcoming winter when it would fit just right. Unfortunately for Avery the mittens are still attached to the hat as well as the price tag.
Daddy likes to give Avery odd knick knacks from his dresser drawers to play with... looks like she's ready for the NYC marathon.
A happy girl surrounded by two of her favorite toys - her farmhouse from Marmel and her fishbowl from Grandma and Grandpa!
So this weekend we went to the Art Under the Bridge Festival. It seems like yesterday that we blogged about the festival last year with my parents. I was pregnant at the time and it was a lot of work walking around all day. This year it was icky and rainy, so Scott carried Avery in the baby carrier so she could get an up close and personal view at all of the artwork. She loved the walk to DUMBO but got a little wet.
ahhh... finally we are here :)
but why are you making me look at sasquatch's brains???
This view last year was gorgeous... maybe some other time.
At a video installation in a dark bar, nice to sit down and take a break.

Busy and fun days
Hi all. It's been a busy few weeks here, and a couple months since I've written a blog (Cheryl's been doing a great job!), so there's lots of stuff to talk about. This is all out of order, but here are some of the highlights from the last few weeks:
Avery hanging out with her little buddy Keira...
And deciding to have a taste of Keira's head.
Keira's mommy (Cheryl's friend Layla) was nice enough to take some cute pics of Avery for us.
So I've taken at least every Friday off for the past five weeks or so, and have had a lot of three-, four-, and even five-day weekends with Cheryl and little Jaders. It's been so great. She is turning into such a wonderful little girl. I've really enjoyed all the time that we get to spend together as a family, which more often than not involves the three of us hanging out and playing together, with Cheryl and me laughing, smiling, and marveling at all that Avery does.
We did have one very stressful day last week, when Missy had to spend the day at the vet's office having a full dental treatment, which included the extraction of seven teeth. The anesthesia went in through her arm, which resulted in the following new hairdo.
It's so funny looking. We've been calling her chicken wing (b/c it looks like a half eaten drumstick) or Puss in Boot. The procedure went well, and the recovery is going well so far also.
On Saturday we were in NJ to celebrate cousin Ryan's 1st BD, and also cousin Jacqui's 4th BD. It was a good time. Here are the two little ones hanging out together with what must have been a very tasty toy, as they both had it in their mouths numerous times.

Lisa and Tyler's Wedding Weekend
We just got back from Cincinnati last night and Aunt Lisa and Uncle Tyler's wedding!!! It was a fun and hectic weekend for all and the wedding was of course lovely and beautiful! Here's a couple pics from cousin Kelly's camera (thanks Kel!) I'm sure there are 27 versions of the last picture, so when a better one is shared (one in which Tyler is not blocking Lynda and Tad), we'll re-post.

play, play, play
We went to Rye Playland for Scott's company outing (an amusement park in Westchester, NY). Avery was too tiny for any of the rides, but we had a good time hanging out on the boardwalk and walking the pier with her.
Avery thinks she is riding a bull - OLE!
Part of the boardwalk that was in the movie BIG (where little Tom Hanks finds the Zoltar fortune teller).
A hot, sweaty baby ready to go home... but she's still smiling (or just sucking her bottom lip).
We upgraded a borrowed swing for a borrowed jumparoo! It took Avery all of 1 minute to figure out that this thing was tons of fun. She LOVES bouncing up and down and up and down and up and down.
And she's still having fun in her exersaucer...
And having fun playing with Mommy's scarf/turbin on the bed...
And wishing she could chase after the ball I won for her at Rye Playland.
Bottom line, she's been playing a lot these days and having a great time! She's such a pleasure and smiling all the time. We also like experimenting with different solid foods now that she gets 3 full meals a day. She hasn't met a food yet that she doesn't like (well, maybe peas).
OH - and Avery turned 7 months yesterday!!!

Lila Charlotte
Our new neice and Avery's only younger cousin was born Thursday morning!
We love her already and can't wait to meet her in 3 weeks.
Mazel Tov to Shana, Scotty and Tillie!!!

Here's some pics of Avery's building friend Keira. Keira's already one years old so their admiration for each other is quite different, but Keira's mom and I have become quite close watching these two grow up.
